Recently, the Academy of Humanities and Social Sciences of Shandong University announced the outstanding research teams and individuals of Humanities and Social Sciences of Shandong University in 2019. With her academic research paper Does Media Exposure Relate to the Illusion of Knowing in the Public Understanding of Climate Change? Prof. Yang Xiaodong, teacher of the School of Journalism and Communication, won the 2019 Humanities and Social Science Research Award of Shandong University.

It is reported that she published the paper as the first author in Public Understanding of Science, a journal of SSCI. Different from previous media effect studies, this paper focuses on the public's media attention to climate change information and how information processing affects the generation of their knowledge illusion, which fills the previous research gap to some extent. This study examines how the public's media attention affects their Illusion of Knowledge besides increasing their Factual Knowledge. The paper also discusses the theoretical contribution and application value of the research. This is the first time that a teacher from the School of Journalism and Communication of Shandong University published an article in Public Understanding of Science.
