Recently, Shandong Social Science Outstanding Achievements Appraisal Committee announced the 34th Shandong Social Science Outstanding Achievements Award List. Associate Professor Wang Hua, teacher from the School of Journalism and Communication of Shandong University, won the second prize in the category of culturology for his work National Image and National Image Building: A Study of Documentaries on Ethnic Minorities in China: 1979-. It is the embodiment of the results of his research on documentaries. Focusing on specific social and historical stages and specific image texts, this book comprehensively analyzes the development course of Chinese documentaries on ethnic minorities and the framework, logic and prospect of China's image building.

Two achievements in the field of journalism and communication of Shandong University has won awards this time. The other one, the paper Algorithmic Risk in News Production: Causes, types and Countermeasures written by Zhang Chao from Weihai Campus, also won the second prize in the category of culturology.
