Xiaochuan Yuan (Ph.D.) is an associate professor at the School of Journalism and Communication, Shandong University. She received her Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in Library and Information Science from School of Information Management, Wuhan University. She holds a doctorate of history degree from the School of History and Culture, Shandong University in June 2016. Prior to Joining the Shandong University, Dr. Yuan served as an librarian in the Center of Information Services at Wuhan University Library for eight years. Dr. Yuan’s research interests include Media Development and New Media Communication, Publishing Culture History, Community, Identity and Political Communication. Her recent work focus on communication ecology in the era of big data, social use and communication policies of intelligent media. Dr. Yuan’s scholarly record includes more than 10 peer-reviewed publications in leading journals such as Chinese Journal of Journalism and Communication, Editorial Friend, Journal of Information. Dr. Yuan is the recipient of multiple awards, including the National Scholarship for Graduate Students from the Ministry of Education of China, Postgraduate Excellent Academic Achievement Award from Shandong University, Excellent Faculty & Staff Award from Wuhan University. The courses that she taught include Media Sociology, Public Relations, Network and New Media. She has been the principal investigator of four research projects sponsored by Humanities and Social Science Foundation of Ministry of Education of China, National Social Science Foundation of China, Social Science Foundation of Shandong Province, Shandong Postdoctoral Science Foundation.
